A Dance to Remember: Sequel

 Hey Guys I am back!

As promised I have posted the sequel to my story! Without much ado let's dive in!

A quick recap:

Jace, Louis and Jade are practicing when Jace suggests Jade to take permission and to participate in the International Dance Tournament, but none of the young dancers knew that Antonio ( Marvin's assistant) had been eavesdropping on them all the while.  Let's see what happens as Antonio formulates a treacherous plan in his mind to crash the dream of a young dancer.

The next day Antonio called Kenzie and said “Kenzie dear, you know that you are the best dancer in the institute but Marvin is doing some treachery, he is thinking of replacing another girl instead of you.”

Kenzie shocked by this asked Antonio “Sir, who is that girl?’”

“Her name is Jade and she works in the props department, I have heard she is a great dancer” replied Antonio.

“What! A props girl instead of ME? Wait till I show who Kenzie is!” said Kenzie in anger.

Antonio’s plan was working perfectly. He smiled to himself and walked away.

Kenzie called her friend Jessica who also worked in the props department.

“Hola Kenzie! Um…You look worried shall I be of any help to you?” asked Jessica.

“I was just wondering if a girl named Jade worked in your department?” asked Kenzie curiously.

“Yeah, she is new here, she is extremely calm and composed and does all her work in perfection. That is why she is in charge of all the valuable props.” replied Jessica.

“Oh... Thanks Jess, got to go. I was just curious…Bye!” Kenzie replied quickly and walked away.

Later, Kenzie quickly slipped into the props section and located the place where all the valuable props were kept. She swiftly took a satin cloak (which was to be worn by main dancer) and walked out smiling to herself.

Bassanio, Jace and Jade were anxiously standing in front of Marvin’s closed office door.  Louis stepped forward and knocked on the door.

The door was opened by Antonio. He had a sly smile on his face. Antonio stepped aside and let three students in and closed the door behind him. There was an unusual crowd in the room. Standing in the room were Kenzie, beside her stood Jessica, Marvin was sitting in his chair with a grim expression and Antonio with a queer smile.

The three friends softly wished a Good Morning. When Marvin stood up and said, “Oh… Jade, I was going to send someone to get you here, you did me a favour by coming here yourself…”

Jade had a puzzled look on her face. She asked quietly, “Did you want to talk to me sir?”.

Marvin walked over to Kenzie and stretched out his palm. Kenzie placed satin cloak, that was damaged!

Jade gasped at the sight of the damaged satin cloak. She knew that it was supposed to be under her care. She just couldn’t believe her eyes!

Marvin said in grim manner, “Hmm... Jade I trusted you and this is what you give me in return!”

Jade flinched, and then pleaded, “Sir please listen to me, I wasn’t the one who did it, I had kept in securely in the cupboard. This has to be a work of an outsider sir. Please understand”

Before Marvin could respond Antonio interrupted, “Yeah Jade we understand, whether you damaged it or not, isn’t it still your job to make sure no one damages them either.” He gave a dramatic pause and continued, “Instead of doing your assigned job properly you waste your time trying to DANCE! You think you can do things without us noticing under our very own nose... huh!”

Jade was in the verge of tears. Jace noticed this and stepped in for Jade’s rescue and said, “Sir, we agree Jade could have been more careful with the props but sir, she surely isn’t wasting her time trying to dance!”

“What are you saying?” asked Marvin curiously

That’s when an idea stuck Louis. He said to Marvin, “Sir let’s keep a dance battle between Kenzie and Jade and if Kenzie wins it Jade will be to blame and she won’t waste her time dancing but if Jade wins, she must be cleared of all guilt and must be allowed to dance” Louis smiled proudly at the crowd in front of him.

Even Marvin liked the idea and agreed to this battle. Jade at last felt that she had got a chance to prove her talent.

The battle was going to happen in the main dance room. Many students gathered in the corridors.

Kenzie had a smug look on her face. While Jace and Louis were quickly giving some tips to Jade and surprisingly, Jade did feel quite confident. Antonio stood in one corner and had a sullen expression, not sure what to expect!

Marvin stepped forward and said, “So girls are you ready?”

Jade and Kenzie nodded and stepped forward.

“Let the music begin!” shouted Marvin.

The music began. Kenzie being used to dance all day began immediately. Her steps were dynamic. Everyone watched her dance open mouthed. On the other hand, Jade start was a bit slow, but once she got the flow her dance was just miraculous. She shut her eyes and let the music flow through her. Her moves were simple yet fluid. The audience just couldn’t take their eyes off her.

Marvin and all the other students, even Lucas who was standing in a corner watched awestruck. Louis and Jace were proud of their work and were grinning ear to ear. Antonio looked as if he was punched on his face.

The dance lasted for ten minutes and Marvin just couldn’t declare a winner. He said loudly, “Stop the music!”

Both Jade and Kenzie stopped dancing. The crowd broke into an applause. Jade was very proud of her work. Kenzie who had been watching Jade dance, suddenly felt guilty of the blame she had put on Jade.

Marvin stepped forward and raised his hands, the applause died. Marvin spoke, “In my whole career I have never seen such a collaboration of dance. Both Jade and Kenzie took dance to a very different level. So, I have decided to forgive Jade for her mistake...”

“One minute sir” interrupted Kenzie. “I would like to confess something. It is actually me who damaged the satin cloak. I was just misled in terms of Jade. I would like to apologise to her also I myself was surprised to see such a talent in her.”

Marvin smiled at Kenzie and continued, “As I was saying, for the upcoming international dance competition for girls the two candidates representing our academy will be Jade and Kenzie!”

The crowd broke into cheering and clapping. Jade’s eyes were shining with tears. Both Louis and Jace gave Jade huge hugs! To Jade’s surprise Kenzie herself came and gave Jade a hug and apologised. Jade smiled back at her. Jade just couldn’t believe that her dream had come true.

Antonio was boiling with rage. He walked out of all the celebrations. He just couldn’t believe that he was outsmarted by a prop’s girl! Well, he couldn’t do anything about it either!

After this, Jade leads a wonderful life that she had dreamt of and also made some of the best friends she would ever have in her life. On the other hand, Antonio was still the ‘baby – sitter’ of Marvin!
